What Pros Wear: Wilson Releases Two 2024 Aso’s Lab A2Ks

Wilson has released a handful of special edition gloves under the “Aso’s Lab” umbrella in the past. These represent new patterns or modifications developed in large part by Wilson Master Glove Craftsman Shigeaki Aso. This release features two models – one pitcher and one infield – that draw from the success of Wilson’s relatively new 1810 outfield pattern.

The 1723SS was designed for infielders who wear their gloves with two fingers in the pinky stall. The redesigned wrist strap is made to hug the players hand. This fit is intended to lock the glove on while ranging for ground balls to the glove or backhand side. The finger stalls have also been altered to better accommodate a two-in-the-piny grip. SuperSkin was added to improve longevity and the black SnakeSkin accents add a little extra flair to the 1723SS.

The new 12″ B23 pitchers pattern takes all of the same custom internal queues from the 1810 (and now the 1723). The result is a glove for the bump with the same two-in-the-pinky fit. The B23 also features a finger hood shifted to the middle finger to allow for the intended grip glove while not tipping pitches.

The B23 also boasts a new web we saw at Spring Training this year. Wilson calls this closed web the Swordsman Web. A black SnakeSkin leather inlay is accented by the white stitch on this Aso’s Lab model for a clean look.

Both Aso’s Lab models from Wilson are available now for $400 but supplies are likely limited.
